Description
Calypso Cottage is a cute beachfront cottage about 10 minutes' walk along the beach from The Reef Kite + Surf, on the scenic, unspoilt, reef-protected south-east Atlantic coastline of St Lucia. Calypso Cottage is a little old house, that has been recently renovated. It's quite clean and cozy, with two airconditioned bedrooms (one double bed per room), one bathroom, a small kitchen (with stove, fridge and toaster), a tiny living room and an open inner courtyard/laundry area with a concrete sink, washing machine and barbecue. There is cable TV available. No internet connection, but there's free wi-fi at The Reef Beach Café. Calypso Cottage is set directly on the beach: you could literally cast a fishing line from your balcony. The house is located in a compound with a dozen or so similar old cottages, most of which are permanently occupied.
The price for Calypso Cottage is US$75/night (1-2 pax), or US$85/night for 3 and 4 persons (tax included). There are laundry facilities available at the manager's office. If you stay at Calypso Cottage, you get a 10% discount on rental cars with St Lucia National Car Rental. You can also catch a ride on any one of the local buses to Vieux Fort town (about 1 mile away), or walk along the beach to The Reef for some serious wind and kitesurfing pleasure, or just to laze about. Please note that kite surfing in front of the cottages is strictly forbidden due to the proximity of the international airport and strict international aviation laws.
