What is seamoss?
Seamoss is a form of seaweed. The Caribbean sea contains hundreds of species of seaweeds, some red, others green and brown. Of these, about ten are used for food and drinks. The two most popular species in St. Lucia are Gracilaria and Eucheuma.

How does seamoss grow?
Like all seaweeds, seamoss has no true roots, leaves or flowers. Instead the plants consist of branched fronds attached by an 'anchor' to a stable surface from which the entire plant absorbs precious nutrients from the surrounding seawater.
