Way to Calvary Crusade

    From Sunday 28th May onwards, 7.15pm every night: Way to Calvary Crusade with Pastor St. Clair Helen. A Ministry of Restoration at the Big Tent near Beach Facilities, Vigie.

Folk Theatre Workshops in Vieux Fort

    Until 3rd June: Folk Theatre Workshops in Vieux Fort. Organised by Folk Research Centre, facilitated by Ellen O'Malley-Camps.

Caribbean Studies conference

    Monday 29th May - Friday 3rd June: 25th annual conference of Caribbean Studies Association. Venue: Hyatt Regency Hotel. Brings together some 500 scholars on topics pertaining to the Caribbean and its people. Theme this year: 'The Caribbean on the move: confidently into the 21st century'. Local organising committee: John Robert Lee and Matthew Roberts.

Fashion Awareness Week

    Until 2nd June: Fashion Awareness Week. With exhibitions and fashion shows to promote the local fashion industry. Bonsai Exhibition

    Saturday 3 - Monday 5th June: 11th Annual Bonsai Exhibition. Organised by the Bonsai Society of St. Lucia. Admission free, at the Castries City Hall, from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm.

South Calypso Tent programme

    South Calypso Tent with Yardie, Fabulous Fonty, Prosper, Lord Believe Me, Singing Cynty, Super Hitter, Ajaka, Albano, Planter, M.J. Challenger, Bobby Ted, Duval Ringo and Journalist. Backed by an All Star Band.
    Saturday 10th June: National Cultural Centre, Castries: Soca Monarch preliminaries.
    Saturday 24th June: quarter finals in Vieux Fort.

'A Word from Heaven' Crusade

    2nd June - 25th June: 'A Word from Heaven' Crusade, with Dr. Vaughn and Jennifer Brown. Mission St. Lucia, at George the Fifth Park in Castries. Daily at 3.30pm the Youth on Fire Ministry (after-school gathering and special ministry to young adults), and 6.30pm 'A Word from Heaven' Crusade. Every Saturday at 3.30pm music workshops with the Vision in Action Choir.

Open day at C&W in Corinth

    Saturday 3, Sunday 4th June: Open Day at Cable and Wireless' Corinth office. With booths showcasing various aspects of C&W's operations, including chat sessions, internet café and popular theatre. Starts at 10am each day.

Walk for the Environment

    Sunday 4th June, 'Walk for the Environment' in observance of World Environmental Day (5th June). Organised by the St. Lucia National Trust. Start at Babonneau Playing Field, finish at Pigeon Island National Landmark. The ten mile course takes participants through La Croix, Paix Bouche, Plateau, Morne Citon, Desmareaux, Riviere Mitant, La Feuillet and Bonne Terre. Call the Trust at 452-5005 for more information.

Early childhood educators meeting

    Monday 5th June, annual general meeting of National Association of Early Childhood Educators. Venue: National Cultural Centre, from 10:00 am.

Vieux Fort Carnival activities

    Saturday 10th June: Vieux Fort Queen Show, NDC Factory shell, 8pm.
    Saturday 8th July: Vieux Fort T-Shirt Night Mass, Friendship Park, 4pm.
    Sunday 9th July: Vieux Fort Kiddies Pageant, Friendship Park, 1pm.
    Saturday 15th July: Dance, Vieux Fort Town Hall, 9pm.
    Sunday 16th July: Vieux Fort J'Ouvert and Costume Parade, Friendship Park, 1pm.

Rideathon & Walkathon

    Sunday 11th June, Rideathon and Walkathon. Start at Vigie playing field, finish at Pigeon Point beach. Handicapped event start at 6.30am, ride & walk start at 7am. Open to individuals, teams, clubs, companies, schools and the handicapped. Also 3 on 3 co-ed beach volleyball and 3 on 3 small goals competition. Registration $5 per person, first 500 entries get a free t-shirt or vest. Proceeds to be donated to the National Council for the Disabled. Fill out an entry form before 9th June, to be collected at WLBL depots. Call 451-6841.

Carnival International

    11th June: launching of Carnival International. This year, they're out of t-shirts and into costume. Cable and Wireless yard at Corinth. With slammin' music and side attractions. Call Andre Samuel at 451-7766 or Dwaine Mondesir at 453-6163 or 453-9386.

Expo Caribe 2000

    18th-25th June: Expo Caribe 2000 in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. Please contact the Ministry of Commerce, tel. 452-1706 or 452-1590.

Dennery Fish Festival

    June 18 - July 2: third annual Dennery Fish Festival. Expected to bring a number of Barbadian fisherfolk to the east-coast town.

Gospelypso Festival

    8th July, Castries Comprehensive School Auditorium: Gospelypso Festival. Preliminaries of the Gospel Calypso contest start after 15th May. Live CD will be produced of night of the finals.

Paradise Regained in Montserrat

    8-23rd July: Paradise Regained Festival - two week-festival in Montserrat for Caribbean residents and neighbours of Montserrat in an effort to revitalise the tourism industry. With a food fair, theatrical productions, beach picnics, masquerades, concerts, gala reception, variety shows, a Millennium Ball, celebrity cookout, lots of Irish music, dance and masquerades and special activities for children (beach games, old time games, art and dance lessons, poetry reading, story telling and face painting). Carifesta II: Caribbean Festival of Arts 2000

    17th-26th August: Caribbean Festival of Arts, Carifesta. In St. Kitts and Nevis. For information, call 453-2338.

Showcase 2000 Trade Fair

    17-20 August: Showcase 2000 Annual Trade Fair, this year in Grenada. Open to manufacturers from the whole region. Expected to attract over 15,000 viewers. For more info, please call the ministry of Commerce at 452-1706 or 468-4211.
