Classical Piano Recitals

    Monday 4 December: Tobin Colvill plays Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, Chopin, Grieg and Addinsell ('Warsaw Concerto').
    Both concerts organised by the School of Music in collaboration with the British High Commission.
    Both concerts take place at the National Cultural Centre and start at 8:00 pm. Admission: adults $20, children and School of Music students $10. Proceeds in aid of the student's scholarship fund and the new building fund.

Roddy Walcott's 'The Devil at Christmas'

    6, 7, 8, 9 December: Folk Theatre Production 'The Devil at Christmas'. A play by Roddy Walcott. Director: Ellen O'Malley Camps. The Deveil: Cephas Branford. Venue: Castries Parish Centre at Micoud Street, 8:00 pm nightly. Admission: single $30, couple $50, children $10.

AGM Hotel and Tourism Association

    Thursday 7 December: 37th annual general meeting of the St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association as well as the 4th St. Lucia Hospitality Industry Conference. Venue: Bay Gardens Hotel, from 9 am.

Queen of the World

    Friday 8 December: Queen of the World contest in Frankfurt, Germany. With Esther Hyacinth Lee competing on behalf of St. Lucia.

Signall Hill Alumni Choir

    Saturday 9 December: Signall Hill Alumni Choir of Trinidad and Tobago perform 'A Musical Bouyon' at the National Cultural Centre. Also performing is the Sandals Halcyon Chorale. Proceeds for the Malgretoute Senior Citizens Home.

St. Lucia Association of South Florida

    Saturday 9 December: St. Lucia Association of South Florida: dinner and dance at the Knights of Columbus Lounge in Miami. With Prime Minister Dr Kenny Anthony as keynote speaker.

December Theatre Season

    9 and 10 December: opening performances of Roddy Walcott's 'Papa Diable - the Devil at Christmas' by the Folk Research Centre's Folk Theatre Production. Directed by Ellen Camps, with Cephas Branford, Larry Bain, Travis Bain, Gary Burte and Dane Jacobs.
    23rd December: Che Campeche at the National Cultural Centre with Kweyol theatre.

Agriculturalist Society AGM

    Saturday 9 December: 50th Annual General Meeting of the St. Lucia Agriculturalists Association. At the National Insurance Scheme Conference Room, Castries.

Human Rights Day

    10 December: Human Rights Day. Events organised by parliamentary commissioner Lawrance Laurent, with small and large churches.

AGM Historical Society

    Monday 11 December, 5 pm: 46th annual general meeting of the St. Lucia Archaeological and Historical Society. Venue: Caribbees Hotel, La Pansee Road, Castries.

Festival of Lights

    12 December: Festival of Lights, at Dennery. With various lantern-making workshops in preparation for the official event.

Two plays by Lighthouse Theatre

    14 till 17 December, every night: two one-acters of the Lighthouse Theatre at Tapion. Director: Kendel Hippolyte. Plays are: 'Manny and Bella' (by Errol Hill) and 'Waiting' (by Peter Laurie).

Christmas Concerts

    Saturday 16th December, St. Joseph's Convent: St. Lucia School of Music's Christmas Concert. Featuring School of Music ensembles and soloists in a Caribbean Christmas mood.

Handel's 'Messiah' at the Basilica

    Sunday 17 December, Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Castries: Bel Canto and St. Lucia School of Music Chamber Orchestra play Handel's 'Messiah'. No admission charge, a collection will be taken. Starts at 7:30 pm. With Rosie Mathurin, soprano; Jennifer Gaston, alto; Hansil Jules, tenor; Linus Deterville, bass.

Barbados Jazz Festival 2001

    9-14th January 2001: Barbados Jazz Festival. With performances by Oleta Adams, Dave Koz, Dan Siegel, Keffery Osborne, David Benoit, Brenda Russel, Earl Klugh, Chucho Valdes, Irakere and Chaka Khan.

Ninth Regatta

    19th-20th January 2001: Ninth Regatta organised by the St. Lucia Sailing Club.

Ste. Lisi Par Excellence awards ceremony

    Saturday 3rd February: 2001 Ste. Lisi Par Excellence Awards ceremony. Organised by the Ministry of Tourism, St. Lucia Tourist Board and the St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association.

Herbal Medicines symposium
