World Creole Music Festival in Dominica

    Friday October 29th - Sunday 31st, Roseau, Dominica: Third Annual Dominica World Creole Festival. Expo '99 still on

NCB's first shareholder meeting

    16th October: first-ever meeting of shareholders of the recently privatized National Commercial Bank of St. Lucia. On the agenda: election and appointment of the bank's eleven-person Board of Directors. Venue: Castries Comprehensive School, Vide Bouteille.


Royal Navy ship HMS Northumberland

    17th-23rd October: HMS Northumberland visits St. Lucia. Crew expected to challenge local teams in cricket, football and rugby. Ship open to tours by local youth groups.

Project Feedback at Cafe Panache

    13th October: Project Feedback by The Factory - Creative Arts Centre. This month's Feedback takes place in Cafe Panache on Bourbon Street, from 8.00 pm. This time directed by Caron Tobiere, focussing on Freedom and Madness. Featuring work by Lindsey Joseph, Adrian Augier, Shayne Cherry, June Frederick, Michael Aubertin, Gabriel Auguste and others. Carifesta II: Caribbean Festival of Arts 2000

    Carifesta II, the seventh Caribbean Festival of Arts, in August 2000 will be held in St. Kitts & Nevis. All countries "washed by the Caribbean Sea" are invited to participate. Sponsored by UNESCO.

Creole New Testament

    10th October, Castries Comprehensive School: launching of the Creole New Testament. Under the auspices of the Bible Society of ther East Caribbean, in cooperation with Wycliffe Bible Translators International and Summer Institute of  Linguistics.

    17th October: La Marguerite Flower Festival.


Caribexpo Trinidad

    November: Miss Model International 1999: international modelling competition with models from 76 countries in Africa, Europe, South America, Asia, Australia, Canada, the US and the Caribbean.


St. Lucia Promotion in USA

    The St. Lucia Tourist Board has embarked on its Island Adventure Promotion in the US market. Those purchasing the Island Adventure Package from their travel agent in the US receive benefits such as a free night on a stay of four nights or longer, discounts from certain stores and restaurant, free adventure tours, and gift vouchers. The promotion runs until November 30. Last year, the promotion resulted in a 15 percent increase in visitor arrivals during the summer months.
