Annual All Breed Dog Show

    Sunday 17th September: Annual All Breed Dog Show, 3:00 pm, Mindoo Philip Park. Organised by the St. Lucia Kennel Club, sponsored by Pedigree. Day beforehand, 16th September, 3:00 pm: handling and breeding seminar to be held at the Bay Gardens hotel.

Peter Walcott displays paintings

    Until 29th September: one man-show by Peter Walcott. Over twenty acrylic paintings, semi-realistic, on view at the Pyrmaid, Alliance Francaise, Pointe Seraphine.

Pioneers for Pride

    Saturday 23rd September: Pioneers for Pride Benefit Dinner at Sandals St. Lucia Golf Resort and Spa. In support of Heritage Pride 25, campaign by the St. Lucia National Trust.

Wicket-keeping clinic

    23rd and 24th September: wicket-keeping clinic for young players, organised by Reds Perreira and the department of Youth and Sports. With former West Indies B players Michael Worrell (Barbados) and Agnatius Cadette (St. Lucia).

Pyramid and Memorial ceremony

    24th September: Annual Pyramid and Memorial ceremony of the Castries organisational group of the Rosicrucian Order. Venue: Latille Waterfall, Micoud, 11:00 am.

SLHTA pageant

    Friday 29th September: St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association Pageant.

Carnival Review

    29th September: Carnival Review by the National Carnival Development Committee, to be held at the department of Culture, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Battle of the Barmen

    30th September: Bounty's Battle of the Barmen. Call St. Lucia Distillers for more details: 451-4258. Entries are invited from hotels, restaurants and bars where cocktails are served.

The Factory theatre

    Wednesday 4th October: The Factory Theatre group plays 'La Chunga', through to Saturday, alternated throughout the month of October with their other play 'Mary could Dance'. Venue: Upstairs the Eagle's Inn, Rodney Bay. [see also St. Lucia Online news, 16th September]

Annual Gift and Craft Show

    5th-8th October: 7th Annual Caribbean Gift and Craft Show. Venue: Sherbourne Conference Centre, Barbados, organized by the Caribbean Export Development Agency. Bringing together some 150 exhibitors from 20 Caribbean countries and over 200 buyers from North America, Latin America, Europe and the Caribbean.

Breast cancer workshop

    Monday 9th October: workshop organised by the St. Lucia Cancer Society for hairdressers islandwide on the theme: 'Taking action in the fight against breast cancer'. Reds Perreira 5K

UWP Annual Convention and preceding meetings

    15th October: 31st annual convention of the United Workers Party, hosted by the constituency of Vieux Fort South. Preceding the annual convention are the following meetings:

Science of Steelpan Conference

    16th-18th October: First International Conference on the Science and Technology of the Steelpan. To be held at Crowne Plaza in Trinidad & Tobago. Organised by the University of the West Indies. 24th Annual Caribbean Tourism Conference

    16th-19th October: 24th Annual Caribbean Tourism Conference of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation. To be held in Barbados, with more than 1,000 delegates representing tourism industry officials, Caribbean governments, hotels, airlines, cruise lines, travel agents, tour operators, allied representatives and media workers from all around the world.

Allegro Pan Juniors go public

    Saturday 23rd October: first public appearance of the Allegro Pan Juniors. Venue: William Peter Boulevard. Allegro Pan Juniors were created and are managed by Allegro Pan Groove, St. Lucia's all-female steelband.

National Clean-Up Days

    27, 28, 29th October: National Clean-Up Days. This year organised by the Solid Waste Management Authority.

Annual Small Hotels Retreat

    25th-28th October: Annual Small Hotels Retreat. This time to be held at the Hyatt Regency hotel. Brings together small hoteliers from the whole Caribbean region. Organised by the Caribbean Hotel Association. Includes a Travel Agent Showcase. Dominica World Creole Music Festival

    27th-29th October: Dominica World Creole Music Festival. With creole food, fashion and of course music in the genres of Soukous, Salsa, Zouk, Zydeco, Cadence, Compa, Quadrille and even some Reggae. In St. Lucia, tickets ($50 p/night or $125 for the entire three-day event) are available at Carib Travel, EC Express and Air Jamaica.

Jounen Kweyol 2000

    Sunday 29th October: Jounen Kweyol. With activities in the communities of Vieux Fort, Gros Islet and Boguis.

Buy Local Calypso Competition

    26th November: Buy Local Calypso Competition. Organised by the ministry of Commerce and the St. Lucia Calypsonian Association. For more info, contact Isai Hall, Lorna Lubrun or Andrea Isaac at the ministry. Reigning king is De Invader since the last Buy Local Calypso competition in 1995.

Annual Road Race

    26th November, 3:00 pm: Annual Road Race. Organized by Paradise Springs and the Ministry of Youth & Sports. Starts and ends at the Vieux Fort Town Square. Barbados Jazz Festival 2001

    9-14th January 2001: Barbados Jazz Festival. With performances by Oleta Adams, Dave Koz, Dan Siegel, Keffery Osborne, David Benoit, Brenda Russel, Earl Klugh, Chucho Valdes, Irakere and Chaka Khan.

Ninth Regatta

    19th-20th January 2001: Ninth Regatta organised by the St. Lucia Sailing Club.

Herbal Medicines symposium
