Two plays by Lighthouse Theatre

    16 and 17 December, every night: two one-acters of the Lighthouse Theatre at Tapion. Director: Kendel Hippolyte. Plays are: 'Manny and Bella' (by Errol Hill) and 'Waiting' (by Peter Laurie).

Venezuela's export thrust

African exhibition at Alliance Francaise

    Until 21 December, Alliance Francaise at the Pyramid at Pointe Seraphine: exhibition of cloth, clothing, home decorations, masks and stools from Ghana and chairs from Cameroon.

Handel's 'Messiah' at the Basilica

    Sunday 17 December, Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Castries: Bel Canto and St. Lucia School of Music Chamber Orchestra play Handel's 'Messiah'. No admission charge, a collection will be taken. Starts at 7:30 pm. With Rosie Mathurin, soprano; Jennifer Gaston, alto; Hansil Jules, tenor; Linus Deterville, bass.

    Monday 18 December: Christmas movie for children at the Alliance Francaise, Pyramid, Pointe Seraphine.

Bamboo bursting festival

    23 Dec, 7:30 pm, Marisule Playing Field: bamboo bursting festival. Organised by the Marisule Sports Club. Also traditional music, including chak-chak, tamby and banjo.

Charity Auction

    26 December: St. Lucia Annual Charity Auction. Organised by LeSport. Proceeds for new shelter for victims of domestic violence.

Barbados Jazz Festival 2001

    9-14th January 2001: Barbados Jazz Festival. With performances by Oleta Adams, Dave Koz, Dan Siegel, Keffery Osborne, David Benoit, Brenda Russel, Earl Klugh, Chucho Valdes, Irakere and Chaka Khan.

Sailing Regatta

    19-21 January 2001: St. Lucia Regatta. Organised by the St. Lucia Sailing Club. Proceeds for the Children's Home and Child Development and Guidance Centre.

Ste. Lisi Par Excellence awards ceremony

    Saturday 3rd February: 2001 Ste. Lisi Par Excellence Awards ceremony. Organised by the Ministry of Tourism, St. Lucia Tourist Board and the St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association.

    May 12, Pigeon Island: R&B musician Carl Thomas, Jill Scott, Eric Benet and Miriam Makeba.
    May 13, Pigeon Island: Luther Vandross, Paco Chalery, Malcolm Jamal Warner and his band Miles Long, and the Cuban band Havana Casino.
