Ports Police Constable at SLASPA

Microfinance specialist in Barbados

    Vacancy for a Microfinance Specialist UNDP Subregional Office Barbados and the OECS.
    The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is embarking on a programme of assistance to OECS Member States to support a frame work for Micro-Enterprise Development. This project is co-sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the UN Foundation and executed by the OECS Secretariat. UNDP is, therefore, looking to recruit an experienced professional from the Caribbean Region to fill the post of Microfinance Specialist to be based in Barbados with travel in the region.
    The project is intended inter alia to:
    * Improve the capacity of micro-finance institutions in selected OECS member states;
    * Strengthen the delivery of financial services to low income entrepreneurs;
    * Improve access to finance and related non-financial micro-enterprise and entrepreneurial development support to vulnerable groups;
    * Complement multi-donor inputs from the Eastern Caribbean Donor Group to the micro-finance sector and the UN System Poverty Eradication Programme of Support.
    The successful candidate will serve as a focal point in the Secretariat to the MicroStart Advisory Board and will also be required to prepare analyses of project, performance, financial reports, review project proposals, monitor inputs and outputs of the project, as well as organize study tours. He/she will also help identify follow-up activities to this pilot project. He/she should preferably have a background in economics with a specialization in micro-finance. Competence in finance and IT applications, as well as work-related experience in the Caribbean region is preferred. A master's degree in a related field (business, economics and finance) is required.

    Castries CarPark Facility has vacancies for:

    The Company. The National Insurance Property Development & Management Company Ltd. (NIPRO) is recently incorporated wholly owned subsidiary of the National Insurance Board, and is charged with the responsibility of assisting the Board with achieving its investment objectives through the provision of specialized real estate development and management services. NIPRO also manages the Castries CarPark Facility.
    The Attendants.
    These are operational positions responsible for facilitating customer usage of the Castries CarPark Facility, and reporting to the Traffic Supervisor. Specifically, the attendants will, among other duties:
    * issue car park cards in accordance with company policies;
    * maintain appropriate customer relations;
    * initially operate a cash register, and eventually upgrade to a point of sale (POS) computerized system;
    * prepare various reports including a shift cash reconciliation; and
    * deposit cash.
    Qualifications:
    * 5 GCE/CXC subjects, inclusive of mathematics and English - business courses would be assets;
    * 1 to 2 years working experience as a cashier, customer relations, or similar capacity;
    * good interpersonal skills;
    * ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;

    The Security Guards
    These are operational positions responsible for ensuring the orderly maintenance of CarPark environment for staff and customer usage, and report to the Traffic Supervisor. Specifically, the security guards will, among other duties:
    * provide protection to employees from physical harm and secure the property of the organization;
    * monitor the property (inclusive of the Kiosk), investigate cases of damages or pilferage and submit wrritten or oral reports;
    * escort NIPRO staff to bank and ensure the safe lodging of daily revenue in the night deposit box;
    * attend court proceedings on behalf of the organization and provide evidence on cases of litigation;
    * monitor security arrangements at the CarPark Facility and provide advice on changes required for improvement;
    * secure the Kiosk, screen entrants, and maintain order on the queue among persons seeking to use the Facility;
    * open and close the Facility, manage the keys, entrances, and systems; and
    * perform other job-related duties assigned by the Traffic Supervisor.
