Administrative Assistant at SLHTA

    The St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association invites applications for the post of Administrative Assistant. The successful applicant will report to the Executive Vice President and will be responsible for carrying out the duties outlined below:

Associate Judge/Case Management Master at Supreme Court

    Qualification: Is qualified to practise as an advocate in court of unlimited jurisdiction in some part of the Commonwealth and has practised for a period of not less than seven years.

Field Scientists for Water Management Project

    The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry and the Environment invites applications to the post of Field Scientist for the Water Resource Management Project. This project is funded by the European Union (STABEX Funds) and the Government of St. Lucia.
    Relationships and responsibilities:
    To work under the direction of and report to the Project Coordinator of the Water Resource Management Project.
    Duties and Tasks: The specific duties of the Field Scientist are:
    1. Deploy instruments and collect samples for the analysis of hydrological processes. Specific tasks include:
    * Deployment and maintenance of watershed hydrological monitoring equipment including data retrieval.
    * Sediments sampling and coordination of analysis with selected laboratories.
    * River profile measurements and watershed and marine surveys.
    2. Assist in data analysis and the integration of environmental quality data collection with other data collection programmes. This will include measurements of water and sediment quality.
    3. Assist in the establishment of a comprehensive network of hydrometeorology stations to be installed around the island, to provide information related to crop irrigation and drainage requirements.
    4. Assist in the management, control and rehabilitation within critical drainage basins. Specific tasks include:
    * Identification of the catchment areas within the major drainage basins deemed crucial for water management.
    * With the aid of computer-assisted mapping and analytical tools (GIS), develop broad-based management plans and recommendations for  the management and rehabilitation of critical drainage basins.
    * In the context of irrigation, assist in the development of plans which would suggest the nature of required infrastructure, the extractions and delivery systems and the clusters of holdings that can be irrigated within single systems.
    5. Assist in public sensitisation on Water Resource Management issues.
    6. Assist in enforcing environmental quality standards.
    7. Assist in managing and updating the Water Resource Management Unit information system database.

    The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry and the Environment invites applications to the post of Project Coordinator for the Water Resource Management Project. This project is funded by the European Union (STABEX Funds) and the Government of St. Lucia.
    Duties and responsibilities:
    1. Provide overall direction, coordination, control and supervision of the various components of the Water Resource Management Project.
    2. Promote and represent the interest, goals and objectives of the Project in various Forums.
    3. Provide technical assistance and training to producers in areas relating to water management, hydrology, irrigation, drainage and watershed management.
    4. Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of the Water Resource Management Unit and the various consultants and staff of the project.
    5. Supervise the project's management control and rehabilitation activities within the Critical Drainage Basins.
    6. Spearhead the various farmer and community sensitisation initiatives.
    7. To maintain contact and collaborate as necessary with the public and private sector agencies involved in the use and management of water resources.
    8. To perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the chairman of the Management Committee of the Water Resource Management Project.
    Qualifications and experience:
    1. Master's degree in Agricultural Engineering, or an MBA degree.
    2. Experience in the area of irrigation and drainage.
    Skills, knowledge and conditions:
    1. Knowledge of soil and water engineering.
    2. Knowledge of Project planning, implementation and reporting.
    3. Ability to conduct training in aspects of irrigation, hydrology, drainage and soil conservation.
    4. Ability to lead and coordinate a team of professionals.
    5. Knowledge of local geography and communities.
    6. Ability to communicate effectively.

    3. Responsible for the logging of all tapes and ensuring that they are properly maintained.
    4. To assist in the coverage of workshops and field activities.
    5. To work with the Agricultural Information Assistants in the production of television and radio programmes.
    6. Assist in the area of photography.
    7. Collects and organises material for audio and visual programmes.
    8. Performs any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Project Coordinator of the Water Resource Management Project.

    1. Certificate in production techniques or a diploma in agriculture.
    2. Experience in the use and maintenance of audio/visual equipment in the production of agricultural programmes.
