On the other hand, it is sufficiently intimate to make a wonderful family home, or even a retirement home for two with loads of space to accommodate friends and relatives visiting from overseas.

The villa sits on approximately one-third of an acre of gently sloping land on the southernmost tip of St Lucia: Cape Moule a Chique. Boasting expansive views over the south-west coastline, with the Pitons in the distance and the rainforest in the center of the island, the villa’s large balcony is the perfect place to enjoy the colourful Caribbean sunsets, swinging from one of the hammock seats.
The main living area is cool, open and expansive with high ceilings and an intricate design that opens up to the first floor mezzanine level where the master bedroom and a second bedroom are located, as well as a small private rooftop balcony. Off the main living area are the open kitchen, a guest toilet and a large entrance hall cum sitting area that leads to a separate wing of the main house.
The guest sitting area on the ground floor provides access to a small guest kitchen, a bathroom, and a third bedroom or office space. A wooden staircase leads to the first floor area in the guest wing of the house. Upstairs in this wing are three more small bedrooms as well as a shared bathroom. The rooms provide lovely views over the Caribbean Sea and the lush, tropical flower gardens.
The roof is made of wooden wallabah shingles, which gives the house a lovely salty, weathered look on the outside. Seen from the inside bedrooms, however, the honey-coloured wooden shingles greatly add to the Caribbean charm of the home, keeping it cool in temperature yet warm in atmosphere.
The clever use of semi-open design in the main house is repeated in the two studio apartments. The first is built off the ground and the ground floor space is used as a carport, allowing the top floor to look out over the garden and sea. Inside the studio, a spacious room contains both living and sleeping areas as well as an open kitchenette. This area leads to a private bathroom and shower to the rear of the apartment. Again, high ceilings and wallabah shingles on the roof keep the air flowing and the living space cool. Colourful surfaces, good quality light and furnishing and a generally high level of maintenance make this a very pleasurable studio, either for guests to stay in or as a little private hideaway for writing, painting, sculpting, or to have a gym.
The second apartment is a virtual replica of some of the old-fashioned wooden chattel houses still found around the island of St Lucia today. A shady, cool, wrap-around balcony leads to an intimate living and sleeping area with an open kitchenette and private bathroom at the rear. Wooden louvres on the windows and the tasteful use of colours and materials make this an oasis of peace and rest. Again, a marvelous place to invite guests into, or a great spot to hang out, read, listen to music, talk and relax..
